It is the year 2057, the sun is dying and mankind faces extinction. Earth's last hope lies with the Icarus II, a spacecraft with a crew of eight men and women led by Captain Kaneda. Their mission: to deliver a nuclear device designed to reignite our fading sun.
Deep into their voyage, out of radio contact with Earth, the crew heard a distress beacon from Icarus I, which disappeared on the same mission seven years earlier. A terrible accident throws their mission into jeopardy and soon the crew find themselves fighting not only for their lives and their sanity, but for the future of us all...
As I missed abit of the starting, I did mot know what they were doing initially.. but as I watched on, the whole story was quite simple. It was just to save the sun. I find this movie not bad... the effects were not bad.. the sun was real... haha... If you like sci-fic movie, can go watch Sunshine....

The design of the space ship

The oxygen garden in the space ship. It is reali made in the set.

The spaceship sets were covered in cables and wires.

In total, there was 53,500m of cable used to wire the practical lights.

The Lighting team created the most amazing Sun-plasma effects just using orange lights, reflective material and a fan. Of course, visual effects will probably re-do it in the final shot, but it created reflections on the actors’ faces and the spaceship which couldn't have been done as well on a computer.
